Schaefer CAN Displays
CANopen is an open communication standard which is also employed for different lift components. The uniform application profile allows, for example, the combination of appropriate controller systems with fixtures and their components as well as with further components of the lift.
In comparison to conventional wiring, with CANopen only a few lines are needed. Further positive aspects are the individual configuration, the easy upgrading of the system as well as the simple diagnostics and troubleshooting in case of failure. In every fixture, the so called nodes serve as interface between the components and the terminal box respectively controller.

Schaefer Elevator Indicators
The core is a micro processor controlled high precision gear motor which can be controlled without problems like an usual digital display with binary or gray code. Also, parallel operation with conventional digital displays at other stops can easily be performed. In most cases existing digital displays can be replaced by a dial indicator without major changes. The elegant, slightly sweeping, pointer motion starts when the signal for switch over to the next stop is received. The stop characters always have the same angular dimensions regardless of the actual distances between stops.

Schaefer Access Control / Contactless Buttons
The system consists of a central unit, the EKS Mega, and several MegaBeans which are connected to it within a fixture, COP-Panel, or similar. It manages up to 255 transponder identifiers. For each authorized transponder any combination of connected control devices (MegaBean + button) can be activated.

Schaefer Announcement Devices
The AQ creates two short beeps once a button is pushed. With 3-wire technology the AQ will only sound if the call was accepted by the controller. When pushing an already confirmed button the AQ will also sound. The volume is adjustable via a potentiometer.

Schaefer Contactless Pushbuttons Series
Especially when used in high-traffic areas and in public spaces, a more hygienic operating concept is increasingly desired. The "touchless button" B 50 TL makes it possible to operate the lift without contact. Independently of this, the button can still be operated in the usual way.
Schaefer's Touchless Technology detects the change in capacitance when the pushbutton is approached. The button plate itself serves as a sensor, which means that no externally visible change to the design is necessary. In contrast to other methods, this avoids additional points of attack for vandalism through additional openings or windows, e.g. with optical sensors. Conventional operation with a travel of 1.5 mm is still possible and the touch plate can be marked tactilely, optionally with Braille, so that all requirements of EN 81-70 are still fulfilled.

Schaefer Key Switches
Schaefer manufacture a wide range key switches for elevators. The electronic key switch EKS detects electronic keys (transponders) from a few centimetres distance. This device can replace conventional key switches or key switches with impulse function. Instead of conventional keys, transponders are used for (non-contact) activation of the EKS.

The lift emergency communication system provides a new level of safety for people with hearing impairments. The system enhances the standard emergency call system and communicates with passengers via a screen. The touch screen displays questions and can be used to pick predefined answers. Communication is possible in several languages, and flag icons allow users to select the desired language. Furthermore, it is not necessary for control centre staff to speak the respective language to enableeffective communication.
